Lantern with Christ in the Guise of a Gardener and Mary Magdalene, anonymous, 1680 - 1720
print: I. Bosch, wood, handcoloured engraving, c. 1680-1720, The maker of this lantern took a print depicting Christ as a gardener and Mary Magdalene and pleated it many times, shaped it into a circle, and sewed it together with needle and thread. The print can be folded into a small, round wooden box. This box is created when the wooden top and bottom of the lantern are fastened with a tiny metal pin.
