Model of the iron landmark or beacon of Vlieland, mounted on a square base.
The base is open, exposing the foundations of the beacon. The beacon is a frame of metal screens made from plates and reinforced with torsion bars. The large top screen is square.
Common wooden land beacons were replaced by iron ones in the first half of the nineteenth century.
