Description

Rechthoekige houten doos met twaalf houtmonsters, alle voorzien van etiket: steeneik (Quercus spec., 3 monsters), gewone eik (Quercus spec.), bastaard acasia (vermoedelijk Robinia pseudoacacia, 2 monsters), grenen (Pinus spec.), rode ceder (Thuja plicata), witte esdoorn (Acer spec.), sassefras (Sassafras spec.), moerbezie (Morus rubra), essen (Fraxinus pennsylvanica).

Behalve de benaming geeft Obreen ook een beschrijving en het gebruik van de houtsoorten aan. Deze houtsoorten werden in Amerika in de scheepsbouw gebruikt en door A.E. Tromp verzameld op zijn reis naar Amerika in 1825 met de korvet Pallas onder commando van J.C. Rijk.
