Model of a carronade on carriage and slide.
The carronade is 19.7 cm long and has a 17 mm calibre. Written inscriptions are engraved on the barrel, along with crossed anchors and palm branches. It has a vent patch, a sight on the second reinforcement and one front sight, a breech ring and an elevating screw through the button. The carriage, with brass fittings and rings, is slightly trapezoidal in plan, with the fore end and rear rounded off. To the rear, a traversing plate and a slot for the elevating screw is indicated, to the front, the lugs and lug bolt. The pintle is missing. The slide is a wooden frame, rounded off at the front, with a groove for the pintle and partly sheathed with brass and resting with the fighting bolt in a chock. A little way back, a brass plate for securing the slide lengthwise against the ship’s side is positioned underneath. The transom at the back is broader than the frame and has two brass rollers, their axes radial to the fighting bolt. In the middle, the slide in reinforced with a cross-beam.
This model belongs to a series of models with the same type of inscription. The monogram on the barrel refers to the Admiralty of Rotterdam (Maze), which, however, no longer existed in 1800.
As with models NG-MC-769 and NG-MC-770, there are problems with the scale: the calibre of the model does not correspond to the 12-pounder calibre of that time at a scale of 1:6.
Scale (on model) 1:6.
