Model of a double-acting beam engine for use on land, mounted on a rectangular wooden base.
The model has a beam and a fly wheel. The model does not have a condenser. The piston is driven with the beam, which in turn drives the air pump, the cold water pump for the condenser and the crankshaft. The crankshaft drives the flywheel and on the other side the steam valve with an eccentric and a long connecting rod. The steam valve has two entries to the cylinder. The cover of the air pump is missing.
H.W. Fricke (1809-1876), Engineer 1st class of the Dutch Navy,1 was recommended to the King in 1854 to be rewarded 750 Dutch guilders for making a number of models.2
