Wooden block model of a cutter, mounted on a brass stand.
The model has a straight, sharp cutter bow and a counter stern, the taffrail is decorated with carvings of foliage and a shell. Below the stern a round-headed rudder is indicated, with a brass hand tiller on deck. On the single flush deck one skylight and a companionway are specified. Among the detailed fittings are winches and pumps. The sheer rises slightly towards both ends, only one sheer rail is indicated. The hull has a sharp S-bottom. The rigging consists of a single mast with a topmast, a very long boom and gaff, and a jib boom which can be slid in and out with a rack and a winch.
Both the pilot cutter and the model were built in Flushing from 1851 to 1852.1
