Presentation model of a compound tripod gin. The winch has a crank driving a worm gear. The tackle goes through a sheave at the top to the pulley block with the load (a lead weight),3 and back to the top of the gin. One of the legs is fitted with a number of alternating rests, probably for climbing.
This model comes from the private collection of Jochem Pietersz Asmus (1755-1837).4 Two similar models are in the collection of the Teylers Museum in Haarlem5 and the Amsterdam Museum.6
