One half of a ship flag, painted on one side. It shows half of the Spanish Royal Arms surrounded by the chain of the Order of the Golden Fleece; to the fly an Ionic column on a hill, bearing an imperial crown and surrounded by a scroll bearing the inscription. The whole is set in a meander border.
The difference between this coat of arms and those of Charles V and Philips II lies in the Jerusalem cross in the upper right-hand corner. The fragment is almost identical to NG-MC-1889-83-4.
