Ribbon with five identical scenes: a triton blowing a horn and carrying a tricolour with the inscription ‘Zoutman’; in the background is a ship with a second inscription.
The ribbon was offered to the Department of the Navy on 16 August 1881 by Mr I.B.N. Escher on behalf of the Organizing Committee in Amsterdam, which had received it from an unknown donor.3 In the Rijksmuseum collection are several ribbons referring to the Dogger Bank episode.4
