Description

5 cm granaat met percussiebuis. De granaat heeft een cylindervorimig gepunt lichaam, met zinken nokken voor vier trekkende velden. In de punt is een percussiebuis met messing beschermkap geschroefd, met een leertje.

Explanatory note

Deze granaat werd gebruikt voor 5 cm getrokken voorladers, die uit de gladde 1 pond draaibassen van Franse fabrikaat werden ontwikkeld. Het voorstel hiervoor werd door De Fremery voor het eerst in 1860 geformuleerd; in december 1862 werden succesvolle proeven gehouden met granaten en granaat-kartetsen.
