Model of a double swing bridge with parts of the quay wall. Both halves of the bridge pivot on an axle and rollers, turning on a semi-circular platform in the quay wall.
This model represents the double swing bridge of the Noordhollandsch Kanaal (Amsterdam-Den Helder) in Alkmaar, which replaced the pontoon bridge (NG-MC-1074) designed by Jan Blanken Jansz (1755-1838) in 1836.
Scale (derived) approx. 1:21.
