Aldo van Eyck designed over 700 playgrounds for Amsterdam between 1947 and 1978. His play structures respond to children’s natural desire to climb, jump, swing and tumble about. These structures were placed in Amsterdam’s New West district in 1962. An original Van Eyck playground still stands at Witte Klok in Amsterdam Osdorp.
