In 1966, the Amsterdam-based photographer Cor Jaring photographed the Indonesian president Sukarno at the presidential palace in Bogor, Java, while he was inspecting the guard. Jaring’s lens caught Sukarno’s decorations in sharp focus. After a failed military coup in 1965 and the Western secret services backed takeover of power by General Suharto, Sukarno’s political influence came to an end in 1967
