In the 1930s this type of ‘people’s receiver’ served as a mouthpiece for Nazi ideology in millions of German households. On either side of the tuner display is an eagle with a swastika. The designation 301 refers to the day of Adolf Hitler’s assumption of power, namely 30 January 1933. Deutsche Philips Gesellschaft was a sister company of the Dutch electronics firm Philips, which found a large market in Germany.
