cutting, h 2.8cm × d 12cm More details

This collar entered the Rijksmuseum collection as a dog collar in 1881. The coat of arms belongs to Anna Isabella of Bavaria-Schagen, wife of Maurits, Count of Nassau-La Lecq. Paulus was called ‘her moor’ at his baptism in 1674 and her husband had himself portrayed with a Black young man with a collar. Could this collar have been worn by a human being?
