Teapot with a Decoration of Chinese Motifs, anonymous, c. 1830 - c. 1880
This teapot follows Chinese examples in terms of colour, shape, and decoration. However, traces of European manufacture are also discernible. For instance, an additional layer of red glaze was applied to disguise the pale red colour of the local clay. Moreover, the decorative motifs of the body are the maker’s own creations, incorporating Chinese elements.
