Description

Op een vierhoekige plint staat Maria op het linkerbeen en heeft het rechter even gebogen en iets opzij. Op de linkerarm draagt zij het in profiel geplaatste kind, waardoor zij iets schuin naar achteren overhelt; de naar voren komende rechterhand houdt een boek. Haar hoofd is in de richting van het kind gewend, de blik gaat recht vooruit langs het kind heen. Het houdt in de rechterhand een punt van Maria's sluier en in de andere, boven het opgetrokken linkerbeen, een globe. De omlaag hangende rechtervoet gaat verscholen onder de lange tuniek, waarin het is gekleed. Maria draagt op haar sluier, die het golvende haar grotendeels bedekt, een kroon met grote en kleine fleurons. Over haar gewaad met ronde halsuitsnijding hangt de mantel, die naar rechts is toegeslagen, door de linker arm wordt opgehouden en vandaar in plooien omlaag hangt. Onder haar gewaad komen de schoenpunten te voorschijn. In de globe een gat.
