Even though flower pyramids were a Dutch invention, the decorations on this vase are clearly derived from motifs on Chinese porcelain. This is evident from the landscapes on the base and the floral motifs on the separately fired and stacked segments. Other decorative elements, such as the figures on the top of the base and the animal faces at the spouts, are European in origin.
