A vulva-shaped opening in the lid provides access to the interior of the cozy Wombtomb: a womb and tomb combined. The work refers to the beginning and end of life. Ferdi refuted that this object was feminine. ‘There is no such thing as female art. There is only art by women. When I used to weld [to make artworks], I wasn’t making male art.’
