This prototype for the Bone Chair consists of countless layers of paper that have been cut into the correct shape by a computer-operated machine. For this design Joris Laarman used software from the automotive industry. Based on growth models of bones and trees, it calculates the strongest structure with the least amount of material. The chair was ultimately produced in much thinner cast aluminum.
