In 1974 four goldsmiths and one sculptor founded BOE Bond van Oproerige Edelsmeden (Leage of Rebellious Goldsmiths) in reaction to changes in the world of jewellery. They no longer only made jewels of precious materials, but also of plastic, aluminium, and recycled matter. In addition, they strove for the recognition of jewels as works of art. With this manifesto they wanted to show not only the final result, but the path to it as well.
