Two framed plaques, De Witte Starre (attributed to), after Dirck Witsenburg (I), after Dammas Hofdijck, c. 1690 - c. 1705
These plaques were made as ready-to-display faience paintings. The ornamental frames, plaques and hooks form a whole. Being of earthenware, the plaques could be hung in places that were not suitable for ordinary paintings, such as walls flooded with light or kitchens.
