When the owner of this hat first saw it in the Amsterdam shop De Prijslijst, it cost 160 guilders. The price was steep, but she dearly wanted to wear it to her wedding. Because fabric was still scarce after the Second World War, she succeeded in buying it for 45 guilders by trading-in seven old hats.
