Charger, De Grieksche A, c. 1680 - c. 1685
earthenware, h 7cm × d 48.5cm More details
The Chinese decorations on this large dish, or charger, are typical of Delftware from the second half of the 17th century. The addition of purple, using manganese pigment, was a new development, however. The painter made optimum use of the two colours in the rendering of the trees and clothing.
