painting technique, More details

In the early 20th century, this coffee and tea service was owned by collectors Margarethe and Franz Oppenheimer. In 1936, fleeing the Nazi persecution of the Jews, they took their collection with them to Austria, where it was stored at the border. In 1937, they were forced to sell their porcelain. The Oppenheimers survived the war, but never saw their collection again.
