Dish covers, coolers, soup tureens, salt cellars, pepper and mustard pots, sauceboats, Jean Baptiste Claude Odiot, 1819
These items are part of an 140-piece service that belonged to Alexandra Vasilievna Engelhardt, a noblewoman at the Russian court. The renowned silversmith Odiot collaborated with the painter Prud’hon and the architect Cavelier. They proudly presented their models at the French national crafts exhibition in 1819. The large late Empire figures, like the kneeling angels supporting the soup tureen, are striking.
