Komposition mit Kopf im Profil (Composition with Head in Profile), Kurt Schwitters, 1921
lithography, More details
Schwitters engaged in many Dadaist experiments in the years following the First World War. This lithograph comes from that time. Its composition full of disparate elements resembles a collage, a technique popular with Dada artists. After the atrocious events of the war they were extremely keen to return to their childlike creativity. The so-called civilized world had, after all, caused the war, or so they reasoned.
