Explanatory note

Prent origineel vervaardigd als boekillustratie voor: Georg Braun en Frans Hogenberg. Civitates Orbis Terrarum, 6 delen. Keulen: 1572-1617. De prent werd voor het eerst gepubliceerd in deel 1: Civitatis orbis terrarum (liber primus), 1572. De prent is langs de bovenrand van de heuvels afgescheurd. Het bovenste gedeelte met de lucht is hoger opgeplakt, zodat de lucht hoger is geworden en het formaat van de voorstelling past bij de andere groot formaatvoorstellingen in het album.
