Ganesha is one of the most popular Hindu gods because, provided he is properly venerated, he can remove all obstacles. He is therefore always called upon at the beginning of an undertaking, such as making a trip or starting a business. Images of him are often seen above the entrance to a house or shop. The candy ball in his hand indicates his great appetite, but also prosperity.
