Figure of a Leaping Carp, anonymous, anonymous, c. 1730 - c. 1750
A carp leaping out of the water expresses the wish for academic perseverance and a successful career. This specimen can serve as a vase, but also as a decorative element in the interior. Made for the Japanese market, such porcelain figures were popular in Europe as well and are listed in European estate inventories from the 18th century.
