Description

Klokvormige kop van porselein, beschilderd op het glazuur in rood, roze, groen, geel, paars, zwart en goud. Op de buitenwand twee cartouches met een Europees rivierlandschap met een boot en enkele werkende personen, op de achtergrond een fort, zeilschip en huizen; om het cartouche ranken in Meissen-stijl; de binnenrand met bloemranken. Een barst in de wand. Europese voorstelling in emailkleuren.

Explanatory note

De decoratie is ontleend aan Meissen porselein. Dit porselein werd vaak met havengezichten gedecoreerd. In China werd dit (duurdere) Meissen porselein gekopieerd. Het decoratieve patroon dat men vaak aantreft op Meissen porselein is een zich herhalend patroon van krullen en lijnen die door elkaar lopen, meestal in goud geschilderd.
