Around the 11th century in China, the originally male god Guanyin was transformed into the female goddess of compassion. Here we see her seated in a cave with two servants. On the left is Longnu, the granddaughter of a Dragon King. He sent her to Guanyin bearing a precious pearl in gratitude for saving his son. Longnu decided to stay as a follower of Guanyin.
