The central field of this dish possibly features a scene from the legend of Xuanwu. He was a butcher who had unremorsefully slaughtered many animals. To pay for his sins, he cut open his stomach and washed his entrails in a river. He was granted immortality after which he fought evil creatures to protect human beings. Here he vanquishes a demonic turtle, which he later puts into service as his means of transportation.
