Manjushri sits on his mount, the lion, in a relaxed pose. To the right on the water lily lies his attribute, the book, symbol of wisdom. With his hands he makes the gesture of setting the wheel of law in motion (dharmacakra mudra). Small statues were mainly used for private devotion. Thanks to their manageable size, they could easily be taken on a journey. Figurines from India are therefore sometimes found in other regions of Asia.
