Two Hand Bells, anonymous, c. 800 - c. 900
The handbell, or ghanta, was sounded by priests during rituals. The cross with the flaming circle represents a cakra, a wheel that refers to the teachings of the Buddha. The top of the left bell is shaped like a vajra (thunderbolt).
