Fragment of a Chariot, anonymous, -1100 - -800
This fragment is part of a chariot and served to connect the axle to the wheel. Adorned with the mask of a mythical animal known as a taotie, its distinctiveness lies in the presence of the eyes on either side. The impeccable artistry evident in both the casting and the carving of the bronze attests to the high status held by the chariot's owner.
