This carved red lacquer box is called Chibi baohe (Precious box of the Red Cliffs) and was made in the imperial workshop during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. Depicted on the lid is a scene from the famous Second Red Cliff Rhapsody written by Su Shi. The poet and his friend carry wine and fish and will soon embark on a boat trip to the Red Cliff.
