As can be seen from the inventory of Amalia’s extensive collection of porcelain, she owned exceptional collector’s items. The elephant receptacle, a so-called kendi, is a vessel for pouring water. The adjacent bowl is adorned with small, unglazed figurines of Daoist deities and was probably meant for making offerings on a Chinese altar.
